These baldcypress are normally submerged in the waters of Lake Bistineau, the reservoir of the Dorcheat Bayou, located in Doyline, Louisiana.
The lake has been plagued with invasive (non-native) vegetation for several years and the lake was lowered by the Corp of Engineers in an attempt to kill the salvinia.
We hiked out into the lake bed today and found old bottles and pottery along with sunken boats, a snapping turtle shell and walked through a grove of baldcypress.
